# v0

Vercel's generative UI tool: describe a screen, get a shadcn/ui implementation.

- Type: Tool
- Categories: Agent Resources, Tools
- Pricing: Freemium
- Open source: no
- Works with: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui

## What it is

v0 generates React, Tailwind and shadcn/ui interfaces from text prompts and images, with a live preview and iterative editing. It's a fast way to get a first version of a page or component that follows current conventions, which you can then export to your project.

## Why it's here

Very good at conventional product UI, less good at anything with a strong point of view. Use it to get structure quickly, then bring the result into your codebase and apply your own type, colour and spacing.

## Best for

- first drafts of screens
- shadcn/ui projects
- beginners
- prototyping

## Can my agent use this?

Partly. v0 is itself an agent; the output can be added to a project with the shadcn CLI or exported. Give the result to your main coding agent to integrate and restyle.

Agent friendliness: Good. Publicly accessible and useful to reference, but the agent will need to interpret it rather than install it.
Access methods: Public website, Docs, API, CLI.

## Prompt to hand your agent

```text
Use v0 as a design and implementation reference for this project.
What it is: Vercel's generative UI tool: describe a screen, get a shadcn/ui implementation.
Website: https://v0.app
Documentation: https://v0.app/docs
Use it specifically for:
- first drafts of screens
- shadcn/ui projects
- beginners
- prototyping
How you can access it: Public website, Docs, API, CLI.
Works with: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS.
Read the documentation before writing code, and use the current version's API. Install it properly rather than re-implementing it. Adapt the defaults to this project's existing design tokens, typography, spacing and accessibility requirements. Do not blindly copy the entire resource.
